The Homs Forum “EMISA”, which was launched two days ago, with the participation of civil society activities interested in cultural, social and human heritage affairs, carried out its first activities through the “Old Homs path… the first path.”

200 of the participants in the march toured the areas of Bab Palmyra, Al-Burj, Al-Sour, Deir Mar Elian, Al-Sarraj Mosque, Dar Mufid Al-Amin, the Church of the Forty, and the Ghassanian schools. During their journey, they were introduced to important landmarks from ancient Homs through specialists in archaeological and tourism affairs.

Father Adwar Karam, servant of the parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Armenian neighborhood and one of the founders of the Emisa Forum, told SANA reporter that the walk will later include all archaeological sites in Homs, where 20 archaeological sites have been identified to visit over a period of several months, stressing that the forum aims to devote meetings of love, solidarity and work with the participation of the various components of Homs It is our duty to acquaint the young generation with them.

Dr. Ramez Bitar from Al-Wadi International Private University pointed to the university's participation in the EMISA Forum as an affirmation of linking the university with society in addition to the university's role and duty to support cultural, social and humanitarian events and introduce the Syrian antiquities and civilization.

For his part, Ramez Al-Hussein, director of the Mada Cultural Project, explained that the goal of the walk in the old city of Homs is to introduce the participants to these places that many may not know, through specialists who provide a full explanation of the history and era of each building or archaeological site, so that the participants have the necessary knowledge about the antiquities of their country.

Historical researcher Abdul-Momen Al-Hajjar from the Al-Adiyat Association indicated that before the start of the march, the old city of Homs was divided into sectors, each of the researchers specialized in preparing a study on an archaeological landmark to explain to the participants.

Among the participants in the march, the young Judy Al-Mansour spoke about the necessity of youth participation in these events to learn about the landmarks of Homs and its treasures, while Fatima Salaymeh considered that every Syrian must know the landmarks of his country, especially that Syria is the mother of civilizations and history, while Abeer Ibrahim spoke about her participation and her children. On the march to visit the landmarks of Homs, based on the duty of parents to motivate their children to participate in cultural and social activities that create an enlightened and conscious generation of them.
