For four days next week there will be celebrations in Maria Thalheim: The Immergrün-Schützen will be 125 years old.

Or at least think they will...

Maria Thalheim – Four-day anniversary bash in Maria Thalheim: The Immergrün-Schützen celebrate their 125th anniversary with a big party from Thursday, September 15th to Sunday, September 18th (see box).

At least they assume that they live to be 125 years old.

Because the exact year of foundation is not documented with certainty.

In the club's cup cabinet there is a magnificently painted porcelain mug with a pewter lid, which bears the inscription: "Dedicated to the Thalheim rifle club by Pastor Kisslinger 1897".

At this point we look back on the eventful history of the club.

Officially, 1897 is mentioned in the chronicle of the Schützengau Erding as the founding year, and by this time there must have been lively club life.

However, this was abruptly interrupted by the two world wars.

After the First World War, the association was reestablished in 1932.

There are no documents from this time, only the name of the marksman Johann Wasserlechner and a few members are known.

The names Sylvester Prediger, Franz Wimmer, Bartholomäus Wimmer and Georg Braun have been handed down.

In 1933 Andreas Beis from Kleinstürzlham was elected rifle champion.

However, just one year after his election, he died unexpectedly and was no longer able to achieve his great goal of setting up a small caliber stand.

For Beis, his predecessor Wasserlechner takes over again.

The association had 30 members at the time when another world war broke out, causing another forced break.

An association in a party mood: folk evening, wine festival, cabaret and much more

125 years of Immergrün Maria Thalheim: That has to be celebrated properly, four days in a row.

The celebrations will take place in the Stockschützenhalle in Maria Thalheim, Am Marienbach 21.

It starts on Thursday, September 15th, with a local evening.

At 6 p.m. there is a photo session for the members on the Thalheim village square.

At 7 p.m. the beer tapping ceremony takes place, followed by music from the hunting horn players.

All citizens are invited.

The next day on Friday, there will be a vigorous celebration at a wine festival with the party band "Feierwehr" from 7 p.m.

On Saturday there is Bavarian music cabaret & comedy with Stefan Otto.

He is a guest with his program "Stage delicacies - from the best ois there".

Admission is at 7 p.m., start at 8 p.m.

Advance tickets are €22.

They are available at the Raiffeisenbank Fraunberg office or by email to tickets@immergruen-thalheim.de.

It will be traditional on the final Sunday: the clubs will be welcomed from 8 a.m., followed by a white sausage breakfast.

At 10 a.m. the festival service takes place on the village square, and a procession takes you back to the Stockbahnhalle.

Followed by lunch with music by the band Ledawix.

Immergrün was only revived ten years later, on January 15, 1949, under the chairmanship of Georg Braun.

He and the five other members Peter Pfanzelt, Peregrin Stulberger, Ludwig Jaksch, Anton Brandlmaier and Alois Obermaier are the first on board.

Stulberger buys the first air rifle for shooting, he is the owner of the clubhouse in Maria Thalheim.

At that time, shots were fired at a distance of seven meters in the dining room.

In 1957, the Immergrün-Schützen celebrate their 60th anniversary with Johann Kressierer as rifle champion.

On this occasion, a club flag is purchased and solemnly consecrated.

In the fall of 1964, the Thalheim riflemen set up a ten-meter shooting range in the hallway of the clubhouse, and a second range followed a year later.

In 1967 a club legend appeared: Hans Braun was elected rifle champion and remained in office for a quarter of a century, i.e. until 1992.

He is then immediately appointed honorary marksman.

During his tenure, a second air rifle was purchased and four shooting ranges installed in the club's hall.

Immergrün was involved right from the start of the lap competition in Gau Erding in 1968 and has remained on board to this day.

In 1972 the 75th anniversary is celebrated.

Another milestone in Braun's tenure was inaugurated in the fall of 1985: After many official hurdles and around 1,250 hours of voluntary work, the six shooting ranges in the club's attic were put into operation.

The hostel's father, Peregrin Stulberger, bears the material costs.

In 1992, the well-deserved rifle champion Braun gave his office to Adolf Häusler.

During his tenure, a large district shooting was organized twice in the gymnasium.

In 1997, Immergrün celebrates its 100th anniversary.

But slowly it's getting cramped in the attic for the many sporting activities and numerous shooters.

When the rectory was built opposite the clubhouse, there was an opportunity to build a shooting range in the basement.

And as the first club in Schützengau Erding, modern electronic shooting ranges were installed in 2003.

It goes without saying that high-class competitions for air rifle and air pistol shooters in the Upper Bavarian League will soon be held there.

But the Thalheim shooters also prove their accuracy.

Highlights are the German championship title of Andreas Häusler in 2000, who also belonged to the national squad for a long time, and the affiliation of the air rifle and air pistol teams to the Oberbayernliga.

But the club is not only active in sports, it also supports the neighbors of Cosiness Oberbierbach and Waldesruh Rappoltskirchen as a sponsor club at founding parties.

Another highlight is the pilgrimage of the shooting district of Upper Bavaria, which brings countless marksmen from all over Upper Bavaria to Maria Thalheim.

In 2016, in the new elections, Häusler and his long-standing deputy, Alois Irl, handed over their offices to younger hands – and even to women: Heidi Wegmann, who was still Lachner at the time, was 25 and the club’s first rifle champion.

Your deputy: Franz Obermaier jun.

The club currently has 128 members and shoots with three teams in rounds.
