Bad Grönenbach – Serious allegations against a 60-year-old truck driver: He is said to have simply left after an accident with a 65-year-old cyclist between Bad Grönenbach and Herbisried.

The woman died at the scene of the accident.

First responders had found the 65-year-old cyclist on the route between Bad Grönenbach and Herbisried with serious injuries.

Despite resuscitation, the woman's life could not be saved.

At this point there was no trace of the second person involved in the accident, he had stopped providing first aid and drove away.

However, vehicle parts remained at the scene of the accident, which the officials assigned to the second accident vehicle.

A police spokesman explains: "With the support of the accident escape investigators from the Kempten traffic police inspection, it was possible to assign one of these parts specifically to a truck.

Further investigations led to a company from the Unterallgäu and from there to the alleged driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old man.

According to the police, however, it is obvious that the vehicle shows signs of an accident, after which there was a collision between the cyclist and the truck.

An expert was commissioned to clarify the course of the accident.

In the meantime, the Memmingen Criminal Police Inspectorate took over the investigation under the direction of the Memmingen public prosecutor's office.

The officials set up an investigation group together with the Memmingen police station and secured extensive traces on the accident vehicle on Friday.

The driver was temporarily arrested on the order of the Memmingen public prosecutor's office on charges of homicide with failure to provide assistance.

He is to be presented to the investigating judge at the Memmingen District Court tomorrow.
