In an emotional Facebook post, the Nuremberg animal shelter provides information on what dog owners need to look out for when traveling with their four-legged friend.

Nuremberg – Taking the dog with you on holiday?

For most, this is out of the question, the strain on the four-legged friend is often too high.

But if you fly to your second home for several weeks, for example, you definitely want to have your pet with you.

According to the animal shelter in Nuremberg, it often happens that animals are taken from their owners by customs because certain entry conditions have not been met.

Again and again it happens that dogs and cats end up in the Nuremberg animal shelter and have to serve a rabies quarantine there.

Animal shelter Nuremberg with an urgent request: "Inquire before entering and leaving the country!"

"Important.

Please read and spread the word urgently, especially to all Turkey travelers”: With these energetic words, the animal shelter begins a Facebook post.

They published it for the first time last year, but the problem still persists.

Unfortunately, travelers would often forget that there are specific and mostly strict entry regulations for taking pets with you in different countries.

"Especially when returning to Germany, there is often a nasty surprise for the animals and their owners," says the animal rights activists.

"It doesn't have to happen!"

The animals are not validly vaccinated, have no proof of rabies or no proper vaccination card - they end up in quarantine at the Nuremberg animal shelter.

"A lengthy, strenuous and cost-intensive time for animal and owner." Animals from Turkey are particularly common.

There have been several cases this year alone.

"It's always the case that animals are even released for adoption because the owners couldn't or didn't want to afford the costs."

Owners should not “take chances” at the airport

The animal shelter finds clear words: "We therefore URGENTLY ask you to inquire about the regulations at the responsible veterinary office before leaving and, above all, returning to Germany!" The controls are strict and you should not ignore the specifications or it "on it let it arrive".

For the good of your beloved pets, your nerves and your wallet.
