Warngau – The gravel pit in the so-called "Wolfsfäng" in Warngau has been causing dissatisfaction in the municipal council for many years.

The Warngau municipal council recently rejected an application by the operator to store and process material with a higher load there.

However, not out of resentment, but due to insufficient information and education.

They should have come from the district office of Miesbach - actually.

Because the responsible department manager of the department of water, waste and soil protection of the Miesbach district office did not accept the second invitation in a row.

On the morning of the municipal council meeting, Mayor Klaus Thurnhuber received the official's cancellation due to illness, as he explained at the meeting in the evening.

In principle, that would not be a problem, but the municipality now feels that the authority has let it down.

As early as May, the municipal council should decide on the structure of the company Result Recycling GmbH.

This provides for a further 21,000 cubic meters of gravel to be mined in the Wolfsfäng and for mineral material with a slightly higher pollution level (Z 1.2) to be backfilled there in the future.

Council disappointed with behavior

But what exactly is this material?

What is to be done with it in the plant and how are these things controlled there?

The municipal council wanted answers to these and a few other questions as early as May, postponed the decision and invited the officials from the supervisory and auditing authority to the meeting in June.

But this did not appear even then, and another adjournment of the tectur and invitation to the meeting in July followed - again without success.

The official or a representative did not appear at the meeting.

Neither the head of the town hall nor the local councilors could hide their displeasure with this behavior.

"I think it's a shame how the community is left alone here," said Thurnhuber.

Rejection should force the Miesbach district office to act

But in addition to the disappointment, the committee also felt compelled to reject the recycling company's application for a certificate without clarifying the issue.

The information regarding the contaminated material, its processing in the gravel pit and the corresponding effects on the environment are too uncertain.

With the unanimous rejection, the committee now hopes that the competent authority in the Miesbach district office will now be forced to approach the community on its own.

So the topic of the gravel pit in the Wolfsflän goes into a new round.
