The vocational school for nursing at the training center for health professions in Erding said goodbye to its graduates on Friday.

Many of them stay in Erding.

Erding – In 2019, 62 young people began training as nurses at the vocational school for nursing at the training center for health professions in Erding.

39 took the exam after three years, and 27 of them received their diplomas in a ceremony on Friday.

It was an arduous journey, explained hospital director Dr.

Dirk Last, he is all the more pleased to be able to say: "Nice that you are here!" Because qualified nursing staff are needed more than ever, according to Last.

He advised the graduates not to complete their further training with their training.

District administrator: "You have a very important job."

"You have a very important job," said District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer to the new nurses.

"You are passionate about it, otherwise you would not have made it this far - and in doing so you also show humanity."

Nursing Director Michaela Zylka addressed the issue of humanity in her speech.

"Combine them with professionalism and the patients will thank you for it," she said to the young professionals along the way.

The conditions at the start of the training were extremely bad three years ago.

Nevertheless, the graduates mastered the "demanding but also varied everyday life" excellently - and she is looking forward to welcoming 17 of them as new colleagues in the near future.

New nurses in Erding: family tradition

One of them is Emily Metzner.

"My mum and grandma also worked here in the hospital," explains the 19-year-old.

She herself always wanted to do "something with people", so choosing a career was an obvious choice.

And Manuela Heumann is also staying in Erding: “I've been here for nine years.

My mother was here and she was always a motivating role model for me,” says the 27-year-old.

She decided on the profession “because I grew up very socially knit.

I want to make a difference and change something.

I'm also sure that nursing is a profession with a future."

Head of vocational school: "The word routine has not become effective on any day."

Michael Gügel, head of the vocational school for nursing, finally hoped that the former students might be able to take more with them from their training period "under extremely difficult conditions" than other years before them: "In the last three years, the word routine has not become effective on any day ' he explained.

Every day was challenging.

"But you can meet challenges with a secure feeling." Hopefully one or the other will think back to their apprenticeship and then try to implement for the new trainees what they would have wished for themselves in their training.
