The good news: On October 16, after a two-year break, there will be a market Sunday again.

The bad news: the trade association that organizes the event has problems finding traders and associations that make Marktstraße attractive with stalls and action tables.

Germering – It is due to the pandemic that the last market Sunday could take place in autumn 2019.

The trade association can now hold the event again as usual.

But the effects of Corona can also be felt here: “Because of the pandemic, there are significantly fewer registrations from freelancers and clubs than in the past,” complains Jürgen André, who heads the trade association together with Katrin Schmidt.

Are spaces empty?

Registrations are still pouring in every day, adds Katrin Schmidt.

However, both are concerned that many of the areas along Untere Bahnhofstrasse and Otto-Wagner-Strasse, where there are normally sales or promotional tables, will remain empty.

(

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular

FFB newsletter.)

The trade association is therefore launching an appeal, which is aimed on the one hand at the retailers along Marktstrasse: "You can rent the space in front of your shops and draw attention to yourself with promotional tables." The setting up of seating or a gastronomic offer are also permitted.

On the other hand, Schmidt and André also draw the attention of local clubs and external companies to the fact that they could advertise themselves with a stand.

Registrations are also possible online.

You can find out how to do this on the Internet at htpps://germeringer-marktsonntag.de.

In any case

Regardless of the Fierante problem, it is clear that the market Sunday will take place in any case, assure Katrin Schmidt and Jürgen André.

However, there is only one kind of "Market Sunday light".

Because the planning started in the spring and smaller knew how the pandemic situation was developing, the previously usual show stations were dispensed with.

So there is no entertainment program.

The simultaneous implementation of the vintage car rally "Classic meets classic" was also waived.

Otherwise, everything should go as usual: the market stalls are open on October 16 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the shops from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Untere Bahnhofstraße will be closed to motorized traffic from the underpass at the station to Kleiner Stachus, and Otto-Wagner-Straße from Kleiner Stachus to Friedenstrasse.
