In the Hofkapelle in Munich, Munich residents and guests bid farewell to the late Queen Elizabeth II - people honored the memory of the popular British monarch with moving words.

King Ludwig II was also there yesterday to bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth II in the Old Court Chapel of the Munich Residence.

Not the real one, of course, but Harald Heigl (62), who repeatedly disguises himself as a fairy tale king on social occasions.

With a royally twirled beard and a golden crown on his tweed jacket, he wrote parting words to the deceased British Queen in the book of condolence that has been available in the Hofkapelle (Residenzstraße 1) since this weekend: "One last greeting from Bavaria," wrote Heigl.

Munich: This is in the farewell book for the Queen

Many did the same - yesterday in the chapel there was even a queue in front of the book.

It will remain there until the day of the Queen's official funeral, on September 19.

Until then, everyone can write personal farewell words to the British Queen.

Then the book goes to the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office in London.

It will then be stored there.

It was important to Harald Heigl to say goodbye personally: "We will miss the Queen very much," he says.

He himself often traveled to London to see the Queen at social events.

"When she came out in an evening dress, with all the medals and the tiara, that was just great," he says.

This royal grace, this elegance, he lacks a little in Bavaria.

The tz asked other mourners what last word they wanted to give the Queen.

Farewell to the Queen in Munich: Thanks to Elizabeth

The Queen was simply the only head of state to accompany us throughout our lives.

We wanted to say thank you once again for this exemplary life that she has led.

And for keeping her promise to always be there for her country, her nation - until her death.

That was a great achievement.

This iron discipline that she showed: It was unique.

Queen Elisabeth II is dead – farewell in Munich: "Well done!"

I wrote her “well done” – for her entire life's work.

Queen Elizabeth has always been a constant during this troubled time.

She's seen so many prime ministers come and go, survived so many popes, but she was always a reliable queen.

And she always put herself behind the interests of the British people.

Your sense of humor will be missed

I'm from Great Britain myself, but I've lived in Munich for 40 years - now, with the death of Elizabeth, I've realized again how important and what a great woman the Queen was.

Above all, her great sense of humor and her serenity will be missed.

Despite all the royal customs, which are considered a bit stiff, she always remained a very easy-going lady.

Farewell to Queen Elizabeth II in Munich: an era is coming to an end

The Queen will live on in our hearts, we wish that.

She was such a wonderful queen.

Again and again she lived through crises, wars and scandals in her own family - but the queen mastered it all with great grace.

We believe that with her death an era is coming to an end.

We wish your family only the best.
