Various incidents were recorded this Sunday in the city of Santiago, on the day that commemorates the 49th anniversary of the coup in Chile.

The Police Corps of the Central Santiago Prefecture denounced that hooded people threw incendiary objects against the Public Order Control Personnel (COP) in Alameda, the main avenue of the Chilean capital.

On its Twitter account, Carabineros reported that the COP authorities carried out preventive work in the area where the group of hooded men also threw incendiary objects in front of the Palacio de La Moneda.

Two members of the Carabineros were affected by the emission of toxic gases after the incendiary objects reached the interior of an official vehicle.

The agents are being treated at an institutional hospital, according to the corporation's version.

This morning the president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, addressed the country from La Moneda in the framework of the commemoration of the 1973 military coup. In a press conference, he referred to the role of the late president Salvador Allende and highlighted the need to implement actions of memory and reparation to relatives of the disappeared.
