Translator Muhammad Al-Abdullah signed the novel (Monsters Without a Homeland) during a ceremony organized by the Directorate of Culture in Aleppo on the stage of the Cultural Center in Aziziyah.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the writer Zubaydah Al-Qadi presented a critical reading of the novel, which included excerpts from it, and focused on the environment in which children were recruited in Africa and in similar countries, indicating that the translator was successful in translating the novel into Arabic and conveying their own impressions so that the reader lives with the protagonist of all situations and events as if they were Reality.
The translator, Al-Abdullah, said in a statement to SANA reporter: “The novel (Monsters Without a Homeland) provides the reader with an extensive account of the lives of child soldiers and the brutality of war through the story of a child named (Agoa) who lost his family at the age of nine, and then was forced to join the ranks of terrorist organizations to fight the forces government in a West African country.
And he indicated that he chose to translate this novel because it simulates the war on Syria and refers to the great role played by armed terrorist organizations in killing and intimidating citizens, sabotaging the state's infrastructure, recruiting and abusing children, hoping that the novel would bring cultural benefit and entertainment to the reader.
Al-Abdullah indicated that the narrator is written by the writer Ozudinma Iweala, an American doctor of Nigerian descent who received his university education at Harvard University. It is one of the American and international awards, as it was transformed into a film directed by Kari Joji Fukunaga in September 2015 and carried the same title and today it is translated for the reader and issued this year. It is one of the publications of the Syrian Book Authority and has 133 pages.
The signing ceremony included several interventions focused on the linguistic level, the content of the novel, the title and the method of narration.
