Vladimir Rogov, a member of the Zaporozhye Provincial Administration Council, revealed that the reason for the cessation of all power units at the atomic power plant lies in the possibility of an emergency situation in it.
"The turbines and reactors at the station are working erratically due to the continuous Ukrainian bombardment," RIA Novosti news agency quoted Rogov as saying, pointing out that the Ukrainian forces are constantly bombing the station's facilities, infrastructure and high-voltage lines with heavy artillery and rocket launchers.
Rogov indicated that the cold shutdown system was used during the suspension of the sixth power unit, which will allow it to be restarted in the future, indicating that the said power unit has been transferred to the cold shutdown mode, which means that it does not produce electricity and at the same time has to consume electricity to cool the reactor.
Rogov explained that shutting down the power units at the station was due to the fact that the crew working there had to constantly change the operating system of the reactors and turbines of the power units due to the bombing of the station and its surroundings, which led to significant damage to the power transmission lines.
Rogov indicated that the high tension lines from the liberated lands were damaged and interrupted due to the bombing by the Ukrainian forces, and at the same time, the Kyiv authorities deliberately stopped drawing electricity from the station to the lands under their control.
