"Playing is good for us": The Stöcklmeier family, consisting of Miriam, Thomas, Lena (8) and Jan (4), love to play - for example Cascadia, the game of the year 2022. She now wants to share this passion with the people of Zollinger bring closer.

The Stöcklmeier family from Zolling has a lot of fun playing.

They want to share it with others - and have therefore set up a games meeting place for young and old.

Zolling

– What's so appealing about the good old board game?

Plenty, think Miriam and Thomas Stöcklmeier.

The couple from Zolling is now offering a games meeting.

Under the motto "Zolling gambles", you are invited to the foyer of the community center every first Friday of the month.

Also present: their children Lena (8) and Jan (4).

"We just notice how good playing as a family is for us," says Miriam Stöcklmeier.

“Spend time together consciously, try out new things, exchange ideas and tackle tasks together.”

Learn playfully

The family has lived in Zolling since 2017.

Miriam and Thomas know Spiele-Treffs from their time studying together in Freiburg, where both were trained to become teachers.

"Actually, my husband brought the hobby into our family," says Miriam Stöcklmeier and laughs.

"Even as a student he had a soft spot for it."

The two educators know only too well that playing also has a lot to do with learning.

It strengthens and expands physical and mental skills.

And on top of that, active gaming can counteract too much passive media consumption in front of the screen.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The couple explains that they had been thinking about the idea of bringing the joy of playing closer to the people of Zollinger for a long time.

Finding a suitable room with tables for regular game meetings at home wasn't that difficult, says Miriam Stöcklmeier.

A request to this effect was met with open ears from Mayor Helmut Priller.

He offered the community center as a location.

Thomas and Miriam Stöcklmeier think: "Right now is the ideal time for us." Because when the days get shorter again in autumn, the foyer in the community center can be filled with light.

"The people who walk by see that something is going on."

After the municipal administration had given the green light, the Stöcklmeiers started planning.

Posters were designed, a flyer designed, which was distributed at the public festival in the summer.

Nine registrations have already been booked for the premiere, which took place on the first Friday in September.

There's one exception

There is no prescribed motto at the games meeting.

You will provide a certain repertoire of board games yourself.

But everyone can also bring their own favorite game.

However, there is one exception: the board game classic "Mensch-ärgere-Dich-nicht".

Because the imperative demanded in the title is rarely observed.

"Most of the time you get annoyed," says Miriam and laughs.

But the alternatives are not running out: there are thousands of really good board games on the market.

You can also borrow many from the Zollinger community library.

In future, Zolling will gamble every first Friday of the month: for families in the afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and for young people and adults from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The offer is aimed at gamers from around five years of age (children must be accompanied by adults).

There are no upper age limits.

Contribution towards expenses per meeting: one euro.

A nice and worthwhile hobby, think Thomas and Miriam.

It can actively contribute to the sense of community within the community.

Good to know

The next date is Friday, October 7, 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the community center in Zolling.

If you want to be there, please contact zolling-zockt@gmx.de.
