By Reuters

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol will visit London, New York and Canada next week on his first trip to those countries, mainly to attend the funeral of Britain's Queen Elizabeth and visit the UN General Assembly. Yoon's office said Monday.

Yoon is scheduled to leave for London on September 18 for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth, who died Thursday at the age of 96, national security adviser Kim Sung-han told reporters.

The monarch had shown her affection for South Korea since her visit in 1999, Kim said.

Yoon will then travel to New York to attend the UN General Assembly, where he is expected to deliver a keynote address on September 20, Kim said.

Yoon will also visit Canada during the last leg of his week-long trip, which will end on September 24, when the two countries celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, it added.
