In the year of the Biennale and immediately after the closing of the film festival,

Venice is once again the protagonist in a record-breaking work.

For the first time in the world, in fact, the entire Piazza San Marco - admired by all tourists visiting the city included in 2007 among the wonders of the world together with the Sistine Chapel - has been entirely reproduced in Lego bricks.

A work that lasted eight months and that comes after the exploit of the work on the Trevi Fountain in 2021 (20 thousand bricks) whose news has bounced outside the national borders reaching England, Brazil and Chile.

This is the latest challenge of the brick Sardinian builder

Maurizio Lampis, who used 170 for this "diorama".

between mini figures and animals used to animate one of the most famous squares in the world, the set of many films and among the most popular destinations for all travelers.

A unique work not only for the number of pieces used - just think that in 2019 a 1:20 scale reconstruction of the Basilica and bell tower of Venice alone was made with 75 thousand bricks - but also for its grandeur.

Lampis' new work, "Venice has never been so close ...", is 2 meters and 7 centimeters long, with a depth of 105 cm, while the bell tower reaches 140 centimeters in height.

"Piazza San Marco is absolutely the most difficult diorama in a series of realization that I have ever done in 15 years of Lego projects - Lampis explains to ANSA - it was very complicated because I had to use different techniques so that I could faithfully reproduce some details such as domes. of the Basilica of San Marco or the details of the Procuratie or the bell tower of San Marco. After the Trevi Fountain - he adds - I had to give continuity to an important work of a national nature and I decided to build to realize Venice because it represents one of the symbols of Italian beauty "The secret dream is to be able to present his work in that same Piazza San Marco to be able to exhibit it in his mother city.
