Today, the first pupils of the previous classes in Putzbrunn are moving into the "CamPutz", the modular wooden building behind the Neubiberg high school.

Neubiberg

- In a record time of almost eleven weeks, the Munich company Liwood Holzmodulbau AG erected the three-storey building with twelve classrooms and adjoining rooms so that the building is ready in time for the start of school.

The building, which consists of prefabricated parts that were assembled on site, will not only be home to the two predecessor classes of the planned grammar school in Putzbrunn, for which the building was erected, but also six seventh graders from the Neubiberg grammar school will be taught in the modular house will.

District administrator praises short construction period

"Unfortunately, when you talk about containers, it always has a certain aftertaste," said district administrator and chairman of the special-purpose association for secondary schools in the south-east of the district, Christoph Göbel, yesterday at the opening ceremony of the new building.

“However, the house refutes all prejudices.

The result is really something to be proud of.” Above all, Göbel praised the short construction period.

“There was less than a year between the decision that the precursor classes should be housed here and the completion.

I have to be honest that I was a bit skeptical at the beginning whether it would all work out.” However, the close cooperation between all those involved paid off.

"This is a major milestone for the association."

Everything made of wood

The approximately 1700 square meter building consists almost exclusively of wood - the facade, walls and ceiling are made of the sustainable raw material.

"Only the stairs are made of concrete," said Liwood Managing Director Christian Czerny.

Due to the timber construction, the building can store more CO2 than was consumed during the construction work.

"It's a sustainable alternative to tin containers." The high school's district heating system is used for heating.

The inside of the house doesn't look like a temporary solution either.

The approximately 56 square meter classrooms are equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Various learning islands create a pleasant atmosphere.

Instead of a blackboard, there is an entire wall covered with a special wallpaper that is magnetic and can be written on.

"It really has become a very chic house that is not reminiscent of a temporary building," said Reinhard Rolvering, headmaster of the Neubiberg high school.

Building is moved to Putzbrunn

The modular construction in Neubiberg is to remain in place for three years.

In the summer holidays of 2025, the building is to be dismantled and rebuilt in Putzbrunn, probably on Münchner Straße.

The new construction of the high school will not be completed until the following school year 2026/2027.

"It's obviously a tight schedule.

Six weeks for the move is not a lot.

However, I am very confident,” said Czerny.

Putzbrunn's mayor, Edwin Klostermeier, is also impressed by the wooden module building.

"When I see the house like this, I almost want to say that we look forward to seeing the building come to us in the community," he said.
