"More safety for our children and grandchildren" demands the district association Landshut-Erding of the Auto Club Europa eV (ACE).

He has taken on the municipality of Moosinning.

There, the ACE calls for a traffic light system at the intersection of Bundesstrasse 388 and Neuchinger Strasse - and thus knocks down open doors.

Moosinning - At this point in Moosinning, traffic is rolling almost non-stop.

"There used to be a traffic light at this point," says Mayor Georg Nagler.

"Then it was gone, that's what the crossing was built for."

That's not enough for ACE, says district chairman Bernd Vilsmeier.

Erhardt Schlesiger, a former police officer and passionate driving instructor, thought about how to proceed at this point.

It is very narrow there, "in addition to the various streets and the gas station, there are also two bus stops, driveways to properties and around the corner the parking lot of an inn," writes Vilsmeier in a press release.

"Clear is different - and some drivers are still traveling much too fast," says Vilsmeier, who got an idea of the location with Schlesiger and the regional officer in Club Service, Ursula Hildebrand.

Schlesiger's concern is that at least one traffic light should be set up again.

This already existed, but was then dismantled after a fatal accident.

"Actually, a traffic planner is needed here," says Vilsmeier.

"I would describe this as 'a crossroads with a challenge.'

And the challenge is great.”

"I think it's a nice thing that something is happening there," says Moosinning's mayor, who expressly welcomes the ACE initiative, "so that safety is increased here".

For the children in particular, it is “very difficult to cross the street here”.

However, Nagler emphasizes that the municipality cannot exert any direct influence there.

Since it is a federal and a district road, the community is “actually outside the area, the district office is responsible”.

To his knowledge, however, the responsible authorities had already been inspected in March of this year.

The district office confirms this on request.

"Following a request from a citizen to check a safe crossing aid on the B 388 in March 2022, the traffic authority of the Erding District Office, the Erding Police Inspectorate and the Freising State Building Authority examined the site during a site inspection," says press spokeswoman Claudia Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer.

"All parties agreed that due to the high volume of traffic on the main road and the petrol station in the area of the intersection, it would be very difficult for primary school children to cross safely."

"The exact location must be determined in a trial phase with a mobile demand traffic light," explains Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer, but points this out.

"that the exact positioning depends on several factors, such as land ownership and visibility".

According to her, it was agreed "that as soon as a mobile traffic light is available from the Freising State Building Authority, it will be installed in Moosinning".

And she adds: "If possible, this should be implemented in 2022."
