An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale hit the South Pacific islands of Samoa today.
The US Geological Survey said in a statement that the earthquake, which struck at a depth of 10 kilometers, was monitored at 16.915 degrees south latitude and 168.778 degrees west longitude.
There were no reports of human or material damage caused by the earthquake.
