Port Vila-Sana
An earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale struck off the town of Essangel in Vanuatu today, but there were no reports of casualties or injuries.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 124 km, with its epicenter at 21.196 degrees south latitude and 170.139 degrees east longitude.
Vanuatu is an archipelago of volcanic origin located in the South Pacific, 1,750 km northeast of Australia.
