Charlène of Monaco has placed great value on rest and relaxation in recent months.

A hidden cottage in the French Alps aims to give her just that.

Monaco – The return of Charlène of Monaco (44) to her family and thus also to her royal duties as the wife of Prince Albert II (64) is now half a year ago.

After spending several months in a clinic in the Swiss Alps, the native South African was able to return to her adopted country, but she apparently still misses the peace and quiet of the mountains.

In France, a secret place of refuge is said to be waiting for the princess.

Princess Charlène's long phase of illness, which began with an ENT infection and resulted in operations, "deep exhaustion" and finally hospital treatment, demanded a lot from the 44-year-old.

Charlène is doing better now, but she still seems to struggle with the sometimes very stressful life in the palace.

According to "Bunte", if she wants to leave her everyday life behind, she flees to her secret hiding place.

The royal retreat is said to be a converted dormitory, which, as the magazine reports, is said to be in the middle of a tranquil little town with only 15 neighboring houses.

The property is said to be located near the French national park Mercantour, which is around an hour's drive from the Monegasque Prince's Palace.

Charlene of Monaco's Sanitary Odyssey

In the spring of 2021, Princess Charlène traveled to her native South Africa, but what was originally a short trip turned into a month-long visit.

An ENT infection prevented the Monegasque princess from returning home, and there were also several operations and hospital stays.

In November, Charlène was finally able to head home to Monaco, but only a few days later she had to turn her back on the palace again.

She went to a Swiss clinic for treatment, which she was able to leave in March of this year.

The property is said to be close to France's Mercantour National Park, which is around an hour's drive from Monaco's Princely Palace.

The Grimaldis own another holiday home in France, the summer residence Roc Angel is said to be one of Charlène's favorite places.
