In view of the existing agreements between the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, we call on the two parties to take all necessary measures to return the situation to the political and diplomatic track and together to prevent any kind of provocation, said a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry posted on its website.
The statement added, "Moscow expresses its readiness to help reach a mutually acceptable long-term solution to border issues, using the Russian experience for border demarcation, including with neighboring countries in Central Asia."
