In Central Franconia there is a threat of continuous rain on Wednesday, Erlangen in particular could be affected.
An expert explains the background - and how to proceed.
Nuremberg – The weather in Bavaria is getting uncomfortable.
In the south and east, the German Weather Service (DWD) warns of gusts of wind, and gusts of wind also threaten in some places.
Weather in Bavaria: Official warning for parts of Middle Franconia - continuous rain
The north of Bavaria is not spared from the uncomfortable weather situation either: the DWD has issued an official warning of continuous rain.
Middle Franconia is also affected, so the warning applies to the districts of Erlangen-Höchstadt, Roth and Neustadt an der Aisch - Bad Windsheim, among others.
Up to 30 liters per square meter are possible.
Weather expert Stefan Ochs explains the background: "Until Thursday noon, cool air masses from Northern Europe will collide with warm Mediterranean air masses.
Again and again there are showery and sometimes thunderstorm rains.”

Weather Warning: Large amounts of precipitation expected over Erlangen
“The largest amounts of precipitation of 50 mm should come together in a strip running from west to east over Erlangen.
In reality, however, this stripe can still shift by 50 km to the north or south,” explains the weather expert in his forecast.
On Thursday afternoon, however, drier air will quickly prevail from the north and the precipitation will subside.
Sometimes the sun even comes out.
A maximum of 21 or 20 degrees is reached.
The west wind is strong in gusts and even stormy in the vicinity of a thunderstorm.
There is a risk of heavy rain (orange) and gusts of wind (yellow).

Polar air flows to Europe: changeable weather period is imminent
"Subsequently, between a high near Ireland and low pressure over north-eastern Europe, polar air flows in a broad stream towards us in Central Europe: a changeable weather period at a temperature level that normally occurs in mid-October," reports Ochs.
From Friday to next Wednesday it will be changeable with numerous rain showers and only brief intervals of clearing up.
The initially moderate westerly wind with strong gusts will slowly decrease from Monday.
The daily highs will drop from 14 degrees on Friday to just 11 degrees on Sunday and then rise again only very hesitantly, the weather expert predicts.
