It is a special place: the Bergwaldbühne towers above Wolfratshausen.

The future of the site is unclear - now there are calls for renovation.

It's been quiet on stage since then.

The last major event with around 5000 visitors took place there in 2005, in 2018 there were smaller readings and concerts in the mountain forest.

The venue is currently not playable.

On Thursday evening, the members of the city council's cultural committee are to decide: "Fundamental renovation or dismantling?" is on the agenda of the public meeting.

Wolfratshausen: LAW demands: get the Bergwaldbühne – the committee will debate on Thursday

Now the association Living Old Town Wolfratshausen (LAW) has spoken.

In a letter to the city councillors, the three-member board of the association clearly advocates one variant.

The letter is in our newspaper.

In it, Ernst Gröbmair, Stefanie Linke and Klaus-Peter Scharf report on a tour of the stage, which some members of the association took part in.

Her impression: With the Bergwaldbühne "a unique place was created to experience culture in a special way".

The site looks back on a long cultural history.

This could now come to an end.

The LAW wants to prevent this: "We would like to know that this unique selling point is preserved," writes the association.

"It is not only an enrichment for the city of Wolfratshausen, but for our entire region."

Because it has been "used less and less" for years, the stage is decaying.

"It's sad to see how little the city of Wolfratshausen cares about our wonderful Bergwaldbühne." According to the LAW board, a colorful cultural life could awaken above the roofs of the raftsman's town, with theater performances, concerts or an open-air cinema .

Thursday in the culture committee: What's next with the Bergwaldbühne

The stage currently enjoys grandfathering, the association explains.

"With the existing permit for operating the Bergwaldbühne, you can use it to maintain the stage and rebuild it." is".

For the association it is clear: "Conservation measures are the least effort."
