The Russian military suffered serious setbacks in the Ukraine war.

Now a fighter jet is said to have crashed on takeoff in Crimea.

Kyiv shares a video of the alleged accident.

Munich/Crimea/Kyiv – Russia is said to have lost 246 combat aircraft since the start of the Ukraine war.

At least that's what the Ministry of Defense in Kyiv claimed in a tweet this Wednesday (September 14).

According to the same source, a jet crashed last Sunday (September 11) after take-off over a runway in Crimea.

And thus without enemy action.

Ukraine war: Russian military has to put up with severe setbacks

This information cannot be checked independently - like so much news from the battlefields in the east of the country.

In any case, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense published a video on social media that is supposed to show the alleged accident within the Russian armed forces.

In the video: Compact - The most important news about the Russia-Ukraine war

The video shows two Su-25 ground combat aircraft taking off together at an airfield - albeit at high speed.

Shortly after the start, however, problems appear.

As both pilots make a left turn, a fighter jet quickly loses altitude and eventually crashes just short of a forest.

The Su-25 immediately catches fire and explodes on impact with the ground.

A huge fireball rises into the air, followed by a thick column of black smoke.

Ukraine war: Kyiv shares video of alleged Russian Su-25 crash

“Sunday morning in Crimea.

Another Su-25 crashed.

Incompetence at all levels.

Weapons in the hands of the Russians are primarily a danger to themselves,” writes the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on the tweet, probably based on the heavy losses and setbacks of the invading army this September.

Because: Within a few days, the Ukrainian troops had recaptured 6,000 square kilometers of occupied land in the Kharkiv region.

Which even Moscow admitted.

According to military expert Gustav Gressel (Senior Policy Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR)), the Ukrainian army should now prepare a pocket around the Russian occupiers in the southern Ukrainian city of Cherson.

Ukraine war: Alleged accident video from Crimea cannot be properly verified

However, the video of the alleged Russian fighter jet accident cannot be independently verified.

According to the

Bild newspaper

, observers classify the image sequence and the temporal information as genuine.

However, the report does not explain who the observers are.

For classification: The Sukhoi Su-25 is a

Soviet-designed ground attack aircraft.

It entered service in 1981 and remains part of the Russian Air Force to this day.

The fighter jet is armed with a 30mm automatic cannon and a choice of air-to-surface guided missiles or unguided air-to-surface missiles.

The Su-25 was designed to support your own troops in the fight against enemy armored formations or artillery positions.
