The Bavarian Health Minister Klaus Holetschek is concerned.
He urgently warns of a collapse of the German health and care system.
Munich – The clinics are in need.
Bavarian Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) even fears a collapse of the German health and care system.
"We are facing a blackout in the healthcare system," said Holetschek on Tuesday after a meeting of the Bavarian cabinet in Munich.
Funding is lacking everywhere.
The federal government must close the gap.
Collapse threatened: Holetschek warns of a "humanitarian catastrophe"
The statutory health insurance was missing 17 billion euros.
The federal government must finally secure the financing, demands Holetschek.
"It will ultimately affect people's care," said Holetschek.
Reductions in performance are then inevitable.

Bavaria will also start a Federal Council initiative together with other federal states to secure the liquidity of hospitals, rehabilitation and care facilities.
The situation is dramatic: German hospitals will be short of nine billion euros in the next few years.
The cost increases for the houses are enormous.
Especially in nursing there is a blatant shortage of staff.
"We actually need steps forward now," said the minister.
"We're going to hit the wall there too and face a humanitarian catastrophe if we don't set the right course now," said Holetschek.

In order not to further burden employees in care facilities or clinics, Holetschek decided to “relieve the facility-related vaccination obligation”.
Bavaria is now going its own way in this debate, "which deviates from the unrealistic line of the federal government," according to a press release from the state government.
Holetschek had repeatedly called for the regulation to be abolished.
"Since no quick and meaningful solution can be expected from the traffic light, I had the legal situation examined in detail." According to Holetschek, the requirements cannot generally be suspended, but they can be "relaxed".
Means: Employees only have to prove two corona vaccinations or one vaccination and a survived infection, not a third proof (booster vaccination) as before.
The stricter federal rules then only apply to people who start a new job after October 1st.
"Security of supply is our top priority," says Holetschek, explaining this step.
