Should the speed of vehicles be limited?
Should meat still be served in canteens?
Is it necessary to green the streets?
Which materials to choose to renovate housing?
So many questions on which Parisians are invited to ponder in the coming months.
The City of Paris is launching the revision of its climate plan this Thursday evening.
“It is our main tool for ecological planning and our compass for action”, explains Dan Lert, deputy (EELV) to the mayor of Paris in charge of ecological transition, the climate plan, water and energy.
Two plans have already been adopted in 2007 and 2018 at city level.
The latest to date plans, by 2050, to achieve carbon neutrality, 100% renewable energies and a halving of energy consumption.
“These objectives are aligned with those defined during the Paris climate agreement in 2015, abounds the elected official.
We keep them but the idea is to do it faster, more locally and fairer.

2030 goal
With this new plan, the City wants to set itself objectives for 2030. A roadmap on which each inhabitant will be able to express themselves.
“It is a question of writing the way so that Paris remains livable and breathable, confirms Dan Lert.
For this, we are launching a major citizen consultation.
All measures will be debated.

Everyone will be able to indicate where they want to place the cursor on the different themes chosen, such as vegetation or vehicle speed.
A preliminary draft will follow, which will be presented and discussed at the Paris Council in July 2023, before final adoption scheduled for early 2024.
This calendar opens in the context of an unprecedented climate and energy crisis.
“This summer, in Paris, we suffered six heat waves, torrential rains in August and drought alerts, lists the deputy.
And all of this is a harbinger of what is to come.
