26 EU countries will ask the UN to monitor the human rights situation in Russia

After much internal procrastination, the member countries of the European Union with the exception of Hungary will ask the UN Human Rights Council to monitor the situation in Russia, we learned Thursday, September 15 from diplomatic sources.

A draft resolution requesting the creation of a mandate of Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Russia is being drafted to be presented at the 51st session of the Council which is held until October 7 in Geneva, these sources told AFP.
