There are many things to consider when visiting Oktoberfest.

We have summarized the most important tips for a trip to the Oktoberfest for you here.

Munich – After a two-year Corona break, it will be tapped on Saturday.

The effects are already clearly visible around the Theresienwiese.

The first barriers are in place, traffic stays outside.

You can find out everything you need to know now in the Oktoberfest ABC.

• A for arrival: The best way to get here is by public transport.

At the Theresienwiese stop (U4/U5), it should fill up quickly despite the higher frequency.

The MVG advises: You might prefer to get off at Schwanthalerhöhe or use the U3/U6 with the Poccistraße or Goetheplatz stops.

Alternative: the S-Bahn with the Hackerbrücke stop.

• B for Bodycam: In every police task force at the Oktoberfest there is at least one officer with a camera on his vest.

But it doesn't run continuously.

When it's on, a light glows.

Oktoberfest: No corona restrictions - be careful when driving home with e-scooters

• C for Corona: The virus also concerns the police.

She has her own hygiene concept.

It is recommended that emergency services and visitors to the Wiesnwache wear a mask.

However, there are no restrictions for visitors (tests, masks, proof of vaccination).

• D as in dirt: If Wiesn visitors leave dirt on private areas, you can contact the city at www.t1p.de/wiesnreinigung.

A cleaning team takes care of it.

• E for e-scooters: A big topic at this year's Wiesn: They are completely banned in the outer ring road (i.e. within an area that is delimited by Paul-Heyse-, Ganghofer- and Schwanthalerstraße, for example).

The police point out that the same blood alcohol limit applies as when driving a car.

There are more controls during the Wiesn.

Wiesn 2022: the chief law enforcement officer is looking forward to a “special time”

• F for lost property office: If you lose something at the Wiesn, you can hope that it will turn up in the lost property office (service center behind the Schottenhamel tent).

Opening times: daily from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.;

additionally on October 4th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Response to the bitter weather forecast for the Oktoberfest tapping: the first Munich residents are already drawing up “emergency plans”

• G as in endangerment: "The Wiesn has been subject to an abstract endangerment for years," says Michael Dibowski, Vice President of the Police.

However, there is no evidence of a specific threat.

• H for Hanna Sammüller-Gradl: She has been head of the KVR since this year and is thus Munich's top law enforcement officer.

It is her first Wiesn in this position.

"It's a special time," she says.

Airspace closed for Oktoberfest - police with 600 officers on duty

• K for municipal field service: During the Wiesn, the KAD is on duty around the festival grounds up to the Paul-Heyse underpass.

Law enforcers, but no police officers: The troop can intervene in the event of administrative offences, initiate fine proceedings and issue evictions.

• L for airspace surveillance: The sky over Munich is blocked for the duration of the Wiesn up to a height of ten kilometers.

This also applies to drones of all sizes.

• M for mobile communications: In order to prevent the mobile phone network from being overloaded, extra radio stations are set up around the Theresienwiese.

In addition, there are 26 emergency callers that work independently of cell phone coverage.

• P for police officers: A total of 600 officers are deployed, mostly from the Munich inspection departments.

There is support from France and Italy.

Experts from Berlin, Frankfurt, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Belgium and the Czech Republic come together to put a stop to pickpockets.

Oktoberfest: Restricted zone around the Theresienwiese - admission controls for bags and backpacks

• S for exclusion zone: The streets around the Theresienwiese are closed for the festival.

Already in advance there are hindrances because of the structure.

Only berms are allowed in the outer locking ring.

Cars that are not allowed to stop are rigorously towed away.

• T for bags: Bags and rucksacks can be checked at the entrance.

Bags and backpacks with a volume of more than three liters are prohibited anyway.

• U for processions: There are considerable obstacles in the city center when the Wiesn landlords move in on Saturday and the traditional costume and riflemen's procession on Sunday.

• V for video cameras: 54 surveillance devices are installed on the festival site – five more than in 2019.

• W for Wiesnwache: The police have their offices in the service center near the Bavaria.

This year, for the first time, it will be headed by Chief Police Officer Christian Schäfer.

• Z as in fence: This year it once again encloses the entire festival area – you can only get in at the marked entrances.
