Winter is approaching in big steps.

And the energy crisis continues to cause concern – a power outage in winter cannot be ruled out.

The plans are in progress.

Munich – It is the dominant topic these weeks: the energy crisis and its effects.

To a large extent, these are already noticeable, you notice them above all in the significantly increasing prices - for example when shopping.

But the energy crisis is also causing concerns in the medium term: an insufficient supply can lead to power outages.

More and more municipalities, cities and districts in Bavaria are preparing for this – including Munich.

Blackout: The horror scenario of a power outage in Bavaria

A large-scale and long-lasting power failure in Bavaria is unlikely, the Ministry of Economics confirmed this to BR.

But it is also a fact that the probability of such a scenario has increased in recent months.

The local administrations in Bavaria are therefore preparing intensively for a possible blackout.

According to BR, which refers to statements by the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior, the supply of the population in the event of a power failure is decentralized.

In other words, there isn't one large command center through which all communication and support for the people runs, but rather several smaller hubs.

In addition, critical infrastructure such as hospitals and facilities for water and sewage supply have emergency power generators, which usually have fuel reserves that ensure operation for at least 24 hours.

For example, Miesbach is preparing for a possible blackout.

Power failure topic in Bavarian cities and municipalities

Preparations for a possible blackout are underway in Bavaria.

Discussions are taking place in the districts, according to BR there are already “project and coordination groups” in Freising and Eichstätt that are working out plans for emergencies.

In Pfaffenhofen, an exercise was carried out years ago to test how well the processes would work in the event of a power failure – with positive results.

The fire brigades play a central role in the blackout scenario.

They take care of the maintenance of the water, sewage and heat supply and are equipped with satellite telephones and radio to maintain communication channels, according to the BR.

The Bavarian Ministry of the Interior also announced that preparations are being made to procure satellite telephones with which the civil protection authorities will be equipped.

In addition, the officials refer to the official stock list, which lists goods that citizens should have at home in case of emergencies.

Ebersberg also has an emergency plan and advises citizens to prepare.
