Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Irwani, stressed that the illegal presence of foreign forces in Syria endangers international peace and security and provides support for terrorists.
During a meeting of the UN Security Council yesterday on the situation in Syria, Irwani said that the attacks carried out by these illegal forces, especially in northeastern Syria, constitute grave violations of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
Irwani reiterated his country's condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Syria, stressing that it is a war crime and a clear violation of Syrian sovereignty and human rights, calling on the Security Council to force the Zionist entity to bear its responsibility for these violations.
Irwani stressed that the solution to the crisis in Syria must be by peaceful means and on the basis of the United Nations Charter, international law, and respect for Syria's independence, national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Irwani denounced the theft of the Syrian people's natural wealth and resources, especially oil, calling at the same time to lift the unilateral economic measures imposed on the Syrian people.
