Caracas-Sana

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro condemned Western sanctions against Russia, which led to a crisis in the global energy market, describing these sanctions as irrational.

During his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, Haitham Al-Ghais, Maduro expressed his country's readiness to supply the global oil and gas market with its needs of these two substances, stressing that his country has reformed its oil industry, whose production has fallen to historic levels after years of withdrawal of investments and lack of maintenance.

Maduro called for a fair and balanced oil price of $100 a barrel, and again called on foreign oil companies to produce in Venezuela. in Venezuela and transfer it to international markets.

For his part, the Secretary-General of OPEC said that the organization faces "the most dangerous and most serious challenges" since its establishment 62 years ago.

Venezuela's production is currently about 700,000 barrels per day, compared to 2.3 million barrels in 2002.
