An indictment was filed today (Thursday) against six people involved in a fight that started following an arson attack in Eilat.

According to the police statement, in the early morning hours about two weeks ago, while the residents of the city of Eilat were busy preparing for the start of the new school year, a report was received at the 100 hotline of the Israel Police about a fight between six people involved, near the "Yelim" school.

Many police forces were called to the scene, among them patrol officers and MGB soldiers of the Eilat Regional Police. Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, the police officers arrested five of the six suspects who were involved in the incident, with one of them being referred for medical treatment in critical condition.

The investigation revealed that the cause of the fight began hours earlier, when two of the suspects were sitting in a nearby pub and were asked to leave the place - and when they refused to leave, they were attacked by the manager of the place.

"After some time, the two returned to the place equipped with gasoline, when one of them poured the gasoline and set fire to the front door of the pub from which they were taken out," it was reported.

"As a result of the arson, his clothes began to catch fire and he suffered burns to varying degrees. When the four occupants of the place noticed the fire, they came out of the pub and began to vigorously attack the two using planks, iron chairs, glass bottles and stones."
