Rabbi Shai Tahan (PR)
Who is a Jew?
- This is the question that has been asked countless times over the past few years and the polemic surrounding the definition of the Jew preoccupies us even these days.
The parties are many;
Is Judaism a nation or a religion at all, is it necessary to be born a Jew or is it enough to want to be called a Jew, is it necessary to keep the Torah mitzvot in order to join the Jewish people or is everyone free to decide what 'Judaism' is?
The answer to the question is magical and fascinating and can be found in this week's parshah - parshat that will come.
Watch the words of Rabbi Shai Tahan Rosh including Sha'ari Ezra and the head of Beit Erzi HaLebanon, who analyzes the issue and opens a window to the basis of the existence of the Jewish people.
