Otterfing – The members of the Otterfingen building committee examined the paving stone samples exhibited in front of the town hall, which could be used to pave Landkramerplatz.
They discussed further design issues, such as how the square, which is to be redesigned with funds from the EU funding program Leader (we reported), could look like.
"Ultimately," summed up Max Ruf (SPD), a lot was "a matter of taste."

According to the plans of architect Stefan Goller (U-Plan), the central common area of the square is to be paved in a “wild form”.
That is, the stones do not follow a linear arrangement.
The pavement for the sidewalks and the parking lots, on the other hand, are placed "in a row" in order to create a visual separation.
Alex Zettel from the Egel company, which provided the samples, explained the advantages of the stone samples on display: "They are all rounded on the outside." They therefore posed no problem for snow shovels or wheelchairs. They are colored in the shell limestone tone.
The filling between the paving stones remained controversial at the meeting.
Building authority manager Hubert Zellner was important not to have to remove weeds there every two months.
Ulrike Stockmeier (FLO) referred to the risk of accidents caused by lowered drainage channels.
Note said: "Nothing happens there."
The parking situation was controversial.
Three vertical parking spaces are planned twice.
Too few, said Georg Schlickenrieder (CSU), while Thomas Hogger (Greens) argued that "what for people, not for cars" is planned.
Mayor Michael Falkenhahn (SPD) agreed.
Susanne Weitl (CSU) suggested arranging the parking spaces on Landkramerstrasse at an angle.
It is "difficult" to park vertically there.
Zellner countered that with a parking space width of 2.50 meters "there is a lot of space" and "everyone can come in".
However, as a compromise, he suggested increasing the width to 2.70 meters, which was approved by the committee members.
Planner Goller went into the design of other elements such as lighting and drinking water fountains as well as the walk-in fountain in the central lounge area.
In the future, water is to flow from natural stones and be raised and returned via an underground cistern system.
Hogger also suggested creating L-shaped seating islands “so that people can talk to each other”.
Goller refused.

Some things, as the discussion showed, are dictated by the situation, while others, according to Ruf, remain "a matter of taste".
