Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the consensus between his country and China plays a major role in ensuring global and regional stability, stressing that the two countries jointly defend the formation of a just, democratic and multipolar world based on international law.
Today, during his meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Putin said that attempts to create a unipolar world have recently taken an ugly and totally unacceptable form for the vast majority of countries. The poles are based on international law and the central role of the United Nations, and not on some rules that one party has reached and is trying to impose on others without clarifying what they are.
Putin condemned the provocations of the United States and its policy regarding the Taiwan Strait, while praising China's balanced position on the Ukrainian crisis.
For his part, the Chinese president said: In the face of enormous and unprecedented changes in our time, we are ready with our Russian colleagues to set an example of a responsible global power capable of playing a leading role in bringing about rapid change in the world in order to return it to the path of sustainable and positive development.
