Rent a property in Île-de-France: the galley of Yasmina, 50 years old, 1900 euros per month in CDI

This video editor struggles to find rental accommodation, despite her stable income and situation. A situation far from isolated.

Very complicated to find a solo roof in the Paris region with less than 2,000 euros net per month.

For Yasmina, 50, finding a 20 m2 studio for rent “around 660 euros” turned into an “uphill battle”.

Single without children, she is employed on a permanent contract as a video editor and earns 1,900 euros net per month.

Subscribed to alerts, she multiplies contacts in several departments to maximize her chances of success.

But as soon as she finds a property within her means, it's the same scenario: “I am told:

the minimum amount desired to trigger a visit has not been reached

”, she says annoyed.

Yasmina can however rely on two guarantors.

But that's never enough.

"I have met decent people, others much less so, we feel disdain, contempt for the rental candidate, both individuals and professionals, is it because it is small amounts?

It's demoralizing and humiliating,” she adds.

She no longer counts the little phrases of “encouragement” from professionals: “At that amount, you won't find anything!

“Nor the conditions that she cannot meet, such as having her two parents as guarantors when one of them is deceased… Not to mention the attempted scams with a request for payment before the visit and other “shameful” unsanitary announcements, even prohibited (less than 9 m2)…

A time homeless after giving her leave, she is fortunately staying for a few months with a couple of friends.

"Without their help, I would never have made it," she admits.

After eight months of trouble, Yasmina finds her rare pearl at the end of August in Bourg-la-Reine (Hauts-de-Seine), a one-bedroom apartment of 20 m2 at 600 euros including charges.

Again, it's adventure.

“I was on the move, it was a friend who filmed the visit.

It was clean, I immediately agreed and signed the lease electronically, remotely… I only really visited it on the day I moved in, August 31… It was very risky, but it was the price to pay for it.
