Russia today renewed its call on both Armenia and Azerbaijan to exercise restraint, following the border clashes between the two sides.
Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, told RIA Novosti news agency, "Russia is deeply concerned about the sharp escalation of the situation in certain areas of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on the night of September 12-13, as well as the ensuing skirmishes."
"We consider the use of force unacceptable and count on the implementation of all ceasefire agreements brokered by Russia," Nebenzia added.
The Russian delegate called on “Azerbaijan and Armenia to show restraint, refrain from steps that may increase tension, and strictly comply with the agreements within the framework of the tripartite statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021.”
On Monday and Tuesday, clashes erupted on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, causing losses in the ranks of their forces, while the two sides exchanged accusations about starting to escalate.
