In the main station of the seventh sector of government irrigation Al-Bukamal in the countryside of Deir Ezzor, the installation works of the main pumping engines to irrigate 7,582 hectares of agricultural lands that went out of service during the previous years in this area began.
Regarding the project, which is being implemented in cooperation between the General Establishment for Land Reclamation, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Director of the Public Establishment for Land Reclamation, Eng. Rabie Al-Ali, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the completion rates in the project amounted to about 80 percent, where work is carried out on three fronts.
He pointed out that the current work is aimed at maintaining the main station of the project and the lifting station, in addition to the irrigation canals, in order to raise the pace of work to reach readiness that allows the project to be operated and put in the service of farmers with the beginning of the next winter season cultivation.
