The national gendarmerie, very present on social networks since 2010, arrives this Thursday, September 15 at midday on TikTok, the favorite network for young people aged 16 to 24.
“
Our arrival on TikTok responds to our logic of proximity, of reaching out to our fellow citizens.
However, we know that young people aged 16 to 24 are less on other social networks,
”General Jean-Valéry Lettermann, head of the press service (Sirpa) of the gendarmerie, told AFP.
Priority to prevention
On TikTok, “
we want to show behind the scenes of the gendarmerie, behind the scenes, like preparing for an operation, the gendarmerie seen from the inside
”, he added.
As on the other networks where the gendarmerie is present, there will be prevention messages, always with "
this logic of accountability
", that is to say "
to report to our fellow citizens
", insisted the general.
At midday, the first message will be a kind of "
trailer showing a panel of the different missions
" carried out by the gendarmes.
The videos will be broadcast at the "
rate of two per week, knowing that on TikTok the videos have several lives
", according to the boss of the Sirpa gendarmerie.
