Tragic accident on the Zugspitze: Man slips - and falls 30 meters to his death

A climbing tour to the summit of the Zugspitze came to a tragic end for a vacationer: the 62-year-old fell several meters down - and was fatally injured.
Grainau - Another fatal mountain accident has occurred in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen region: On Tuesday, September 13, a mountaineer set off on a hiking tour to the Zugspitze.
However, the 62-year-old fell and was fatally injured.
This is reported by the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Police Inspectorate.

According to officials, the accident happened on the “Iron Age” alpine climbing route.
The man from the Bergisch Gladbach region was on his way to the Zugspitze with his 55-year-old companion.
In the upper part of the tour, the 62-year-old slipped for an unknown reason when he was looking for the further route - and fell about 20 to 30 meters over steep, rocky terrain.
The mountaineer who had an accident - according to the police, a practiced climber and experienced alpinist - died at the crash site.
Fatal mountain accident: rescue helicopter brings companions to the valley
His companion was brought down unharmed by a rescue helicopter.
The Grainau mountain rescue service was initially deployed, with the support of the rescue helicopter from Murnau.
For the subsequent rescue, the Alpine police task force including a police helicopter came to support.
