Ten-year-old Maor Yosef was killed yesterday (Thursday) by being hit by a bus on Sderot Menachem Begin in Ashdod, when he crossed the road at the crosswalk.

"He was a pure child," said his father.

"He was only ten years old, he studied in the fifth grade, the middle child among three. They didn't leave him a chance."

His father also said that Maor loved to play football and enjoy life.

"He was always with friends," he said.

Maor was with his 11-year-old friend, when he was hit by the bus and ran over to his death at the crossing.

"His friend tried to save him and pull him from what I understand," Maor's father said.

The friend was slightly injured in the incident.

The police are investigating the circumstances of the case and a preliminary investigation suggests that the bus driver, who left the central station, hit a child who was apparently crossing the road at a crosswalk.

The MDA team that arrived at the scene gave him medical treatment and evacuated him to Asuta Hospital in the city in a critical condition, but there the doctors had to pronounce him dead a short time later.

"One of the children was lying on the road a long way from the bus when he was unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing and the other child was walking on the spot," said MDA personnel Osherit Hadad and Noor Azarzer. And we evacuated him while continuing resuscitation operations to the hospital when his condition is critical."
