Prince Harry's tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II echoes his grandmother's words of comfort after the death of her beloved Prince Philip.
London – Prince Harry (37) published a personal statement on the death of Queen Elizabeth II (96, † 2022) after the initial shock, which he published on the Archewell Foundation website.
In it, the Duke of Sussex quotes part of his late grandmother's 2021 Christmas address, which was also her final Christmas address to the nation.
His attempt to keep a smile despite all the sadness is particularly poignant: he was so grateful for "her contagious laughter," he said.

"Let us reiterate the words she spoke after the death of her husband, Prince Philip, words that can now bring comfort to all of us: Life, of course, is made up of final goodbyes as well as first encounters," it says Harry's explanation.
The monarch was barely a year after her husband, Prince Phillip (99, † 2021) Duke of Edinburgh, who died in April 2021 at the age of 99.
The two were married for 73 years.

He thanks her for her good advice and "Thanks for your infectious smile," Harry concludes.
"We smile too, because we know that you and grandfather are now reunited and both are at peace together."

He previously took a verbal no-holds-barred attitude with the Queen: "Grandma, while this final goodbye fills us with great sadness, I am forever grateful for all of our first encounters - from my earliest childhood memories of being with you to first meeting as mine Commander-in-Chief to the moment you met my beloved wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren," he continued.
"You are already sorely missed, not just by us, but by the whole world."

On Saturday, Harry and wife Meghan Markle, 41, visited Windsor Castle with William, 40, and Kate Middleton, 40 - the newly crowned royal couple of Wales - to view flowers and tributes to the late Regent.
They also took the time to listen to the condolences who had gathered in front of the royal residence.
According to Kensington Palace, Prince William had invited his brother to join him on this journey.
