Telephone scammers stole jewelry worth tens of thousands of euros when they knocked a Pöckinger off balance with a "shock call".

Pöcking

– Most recently, telephone fraudsters had relieved an 81-year-old from Dießen of jewelry worth tens of thousands of euros (we reported), on Thursday afternoon a 60-year-old woman from Pöcking was also robbed of valuable jewelry with the same scam – a so-called shock call brought.

As reported by the police headquarters in Oberbayern-Nord, the woman from Pöcking was informed around 3 p.m. of an alleged serious accident near Starnberg in which her daughter is said to have been involved.

The daughter faces pre-trial detention without bail.

The 60-year-old was then put under pressure by phone, through uninterrupted calls - once from an alleged public prosecutor, then again from the police - allegedly - and again from the alleged public prosecutor's office.

"Technically manipulated in such a way that the line between them is not free," explains police spokesman Andreas Aichele.

Even while driving, the woman was constantly being called because the handover took place in downtown Landsberg.

After the handover, the Pöckingerin had doubts, or was it only then that she was able to think clearly again.

The police in Landsberg had to confirm that these doubts were justified.

Because the jewelry, which is also worth tens of thousands of euros, as in the Diessen case, and which the 60-year-old handed over in a box, is gone.

The empty casket was found a short time later near Landsberg.

Highly professional offenders

"What the telephone scammers do is highly professional," says Aichele.

Most of the victims were familiar with the scam, but rational thinking was cleverly delayed by the enormous psychological pressure.

"It affects all sections of the population," says Aichele.

No matter what level of education.

"And you don't have to be over 80." As this case proves.

No prevention campaign against telephone scammers has been as intensive as this one on the topic "Hang up".

Aichele is convinced that there is a high number of unreported cases.

Because the shame is great if you fall for the telephone scammers.

In this regard, the police reiterate that healthy suspicion is not impolite: “The real police never ask for assets to conduct investigations.

Never give money or jewelry to strangers.

If a caller demands money or other valuables from you: Discuss this with family members or other people close to you. how callers who are under pressure can behave.
