A century of Omega watch history at auction in Paris

2022-09-16T16:49:13.851Z

Dozens of pieces from the collection of the great watch lover Joël Duval will be dispersed on September 25th.

Do you really know the Omega brand?

Of course, you will spontaneously think of the MoonWatch, the Speedmasters of space conquest, the Olympic Games… even the actor George Clooney.

But that would in fact be quite simplistic, given the age of the house, whose timepieces have gone through the decades taking on many different faces.

It is all these facets, more than a century of watchmaking history, that the dispersion of 126 Omega watches from the collections of Joël Duval, formerly creator of Forum à Montres, allows us to rediscover.

From pocket watches to those of astronauts, the lots on offer range from 1890 to 2012.

“It's 110 years of Omega history,

” explains Alexandre Léger, CEA expert for this Vermot & Associés sale.

I didn't want to make a chronological sale, so it's broken down by universe.

With the catalog for this sale, I tried to offer a photo of an Omega collection at a specific time, focusing on each piece to explain its interest.

Each time, there is an aesthetic, technical and historical description of the part, as well as a condition report.

For me, these are not watches of speculation or influence.

I want people to have fun buying them at this price, even with 25% fees and 300 euros revision.

It is true that the estimates proposed are the wisest.

“What I wanted was for this sale to pay tribute to Joël Duval, who shared his passion on Forum à Montres, attracted many young people to this niche,

explains Alexandre Léger.

It's a collectible life.

Having a beautiful watch, even at a reasonable price, that belonged to him is also a way of paying homage to him.
