Basic child security: From this point on, those in need can count on help

The traffic light coalition is planning basic child security.
The money is intended to specifically benefit the children – but it will be a while before the first payment is made.

But it will probably take a while until the basic child security system finally comes.
Basic child security: There will probably only be money in 2025
Federal Family Minister Lisa Paus (Greens) is sticking to her timetable for the introduction of basic child security.
She is certain that she will present the corresponding law as planned in the fourth quarter of 2023, "We will pay out the first money in 2025," said Paus on Friday at the end of the Greens' autumn meeting in the Bavarian state parliament in Weiden in der Oberpfalz.
According to the coalition agreement of the traffic light parties, the money should “reach the children directly without any bureaucratic hurdles”.
It is important that families with low incomes in particular are relieved, explained Paus.
However, she did not want to say anything about the amount of the basic security.
Basic child security was on the brink due to the budgetary situation
The financial leeway for the desired projects of the governing parties had recently shrunk significantly due to the budget situation of the federal government and the unpredictable developments - for example as a result of the war in Ukraine and the unforeseeable economic consequences for Germany.
Social organizations such as Arbeiterwohlfahrt in Bayern (AWO) are calling for the immediate introduction of basic child security due to rising food and energy costs.
The situation for families in precarious circumstances is already getting worse and not only in the autumn when the heating season begins.
The basic child security agreed in the coalition agreement must therefore be introduced immediately - income-dependent and unbureaucratic.
The two chairmen Nicole Schley and Stefan Wolfshörndl demanded on Friday (September 16) that the child's subsistence level must actually be covered.
