Buildings and monuments are no longer illuminated, offices are heated to a maximum of 19 degrees: the municipalities in the district are implementing the federal guidelines - and are also thinking about them.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – Offices in public buildings may only be heated to a maximum of 19 degrees, corridors remain unheated, and monuments and buildings should no longer be illuminated at night.

These are some of the guidelines that the cabinet decided with a view to the energy crisis and that have been implemented since the beginning of September.

The municipalities in the district are complying with this, but are also looking for other ways of saving energy.

Four Tölz churches without external lighting

"The number of buildings that we illuminate is manageable anyway," says Tölz Town Hall Managing Director Falko Wiesenhütter.

The evening facade lighting of the parish church, Mühlfeld church, Franciscan church and the church on Calvary was switched off.

In addition, some parts of the lighting at the town hall would be omitted.

In addition, certain ventilation systems are switched off and hot water is not used in areas where it is not absolutely necessary.

The public utilities no longer illuminate properties such as ice rinks and indoor pools from the outside.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Bad Tölz newsletter.

Common areas in the town hall were not heated even before the regulation, says Wiesenhütter.

It is being examined whether this is also "reasonable and permissible" in other public buildings such as schools.

In general, the city is now increasingly examining building and heating technology – also and above all in the residential buildings that it owns.

Here they want to check "where savings can be achieved by optimizing settings or replacing components such as heating pumps," says Wiesenhütter.

Street lighting is a sensitive issue

Street lighting is a hot topic.

Road safety is the priority here.

"Nevertheless, we are currently examining in which areas the lighting can be dimmed or omitted at certain times without compromising safety and security," says Wiesenhütter.

Some of the measures have already been implemented.

"If this is not noticed, we would rate it as 'successful', because the impression of a dark city must not arise."

Lenggries speaks at the municipal council meeting about LED conversion

In the municipality of Lenggries, the topic of street lighting is on the agenda of the municipal council on Monday, September 19th.

"We had an up-to-date offer made for what it would cost to convert to LED," says Mayor Stefan Klaffenbacher.

About a third of the street lamps have not yet been converted.

The outside lighting of the town hall and the former post hotel have already been switched off.

Talk to the church about lighting the church tower.

“We set the temperature in the public buildings to 19 degrees.

We will also do this in the gyms.

That should be justifiable,” says Klaffenbacher.

The temperature of the "Isarwelle" indoor pool is not changed

While other cities and communities have already announced that they will close swimming pools, the "Isarwelle" in Lenggries is not up for grabs.

This is primarily due to the fact that the family pool has been heated with wood chips for years - like many other municipal properties.

They are all supplied via the district heating network and the heating system next to the school.

The temperature in the bathroom will also not be changed, says Klaffenbacher.

"Otherwise the guests stay away," says Klaffenbacher,

Electricity supply contracts re-tendered: shock for Benediktbeuern

The season at the outdoor pool in Benediktbeuern has already ended.

The municipality had lowered the water temperature there by one degree this summer.

It remains to be seen how things will continue next summer, says Mayor Toni Ortlieb.

In general, people will think about energy-saving measures.

Before that, however, the local politicians will have to digest a small shock.

Because the municipality had to re-tender the electricity supply contracts as scheduled.

The offers don't bode well.

"We'll end up with two or three times as much," says Ortlieb.

And the municipality has large consumers: the drinking water supply, the school, the sewage treatment plant, lists the head of the town hall.

At least on the latter there is a small ten-kilowatt-peak photovoltaic system.

Another system with 32 kWp is now planned.

"But even with that we only cover a third of the demand," says Ortlieb.

In general, there is still some potential for solar energy on public properties.

Benediktbeurer town hall remains dark outside

The administrative community will talk to Bichl about the school.

“What is possible at the gym?

Is switching the lighting to LED an issue?” The street lighting in Benediktbeuern, on the other hand, has already been almost completely converted to LED.

Whether you can still turn the switching times here, you will see.

The spotlights that illuminate the outside of the town hall are switched off.

"The saving is homeopathic, but it's about the role model function," says Ortlieb.

And of course they will also stick to the specification of a maximum room temperature of 19 degrees.

County lowers temperature in school gyms

The district does not have that much leeway to save energy.

In the school gyms, the temperature will be lowered to 19 degrees, "and wait for the feedback," says René Beysel, head of the main office.

Parking lot lights on district properties should be switched off after 10 p.m.

However, too little light could lead to more vandalism, according to Beysel.

In general, the district has invested a lot in the electricity and heat supply for the schools in recent years.

There are PV systems and biomass heating systems.

There is also little leeway in the district office itself.

There is only warm water in the tea kitchens and in the showers of the veterinary office.

"And they need it too," says Beysel.

The warm water in the showers in the gyms will also not be turned off, says Beysel with a view to such an announcement from Erding.

"Maybe we'll look again at what temperature it's set to, but it doesn't come out scalding hot anyway," says the head of the main office.
