The District Court of Wolfratshausen sentenced a 35-year-old Geretsrieder to seven months' imprisonment on probation.

The criminal brutally threatened his ex-girlfriend via text messages.

Geretsried – Cell phone messages are something fine.

So did a Geretsrieder (35), who had told his ex-girlfriend in drastic words what he thought of her.

He had also threatened that he would "gouge out her eyes" and "destroy her".

Because the person addressed apparently trusted him and showed the messages to a policewoman, the man now found himself in the dock and had to answer for threats.

This could have had devastating consequences because the defendant was on probation when he typed his messages into his smartphone in late January this year.

"I'm sorry that I wrote that and that I approached her like this," the accused said at the hearing.

But he reacted to his ex's bad comments with his verbal outburst.

They even asked him for a monthly compensation for pain and suffering because of an earlier procedure.

"I thought the old thing was done," said the 35-year-old.

"That's when I got carried away."

Already convicted: violence against girlfriend in December 2021

The "old thing" means a hearing from December 2021. At that time, Geretsrieder was sentenced to a four-month suspended sentence because he had violently attacked his girlfriend.

The fact that the former did not calm down despite the court verdict and provoked her through her messages put the accused, who suffers from a mental illness, "in an exceptional personal situation that he could no longer handle," the prosecutor showed empathy for the 35- year-olds, whom she admitted to have reduced ability to control the crime.

However, she also made it clear that in view of several previous convictions, the fact that the woman had become a victim again and the "enormous rate of recidivism", she could not avoid asking for a prison sentence for the accused again: namely seven months.

Contact ban and suspended sentence - plus 80 hours of community service

Judge Helmut Berger was of the same opinion and followed the prosecutor's request with his verdict and suspended the sentence on probation.

The convict has to do 80 hours of community service and is forbidden from any contact with the victim.

"You don't do anything, even if you write to them yourself," the judge warned.

"Okay, I'll remember that," said Geretsrieder.
