The immunity of the chairman of the CDU parliamentary group, Mario Voigt, has been lifted by the parliament's judiciary committee for investigations by the public prosecutor.
Voigt explained that he could not yet say what he was accused of in detail.
"However, I declare that I will of course provide comprehensive support in clarifying the matter and am fully willing to cooperate.
Erfurt - I am not aware of any guilt."
On Friday in Erfurt, Voigt confirmed a report by the "Thüringer Allgemeine" (online) on request.
According to the newspaper report, the possible investigations by the public prosecutor's office are about Voigt's sideline activities.
In addition to his mandate in the state parliament, the 45-year-old works as a professor at a university in Berlin and has a consulting firm in Jena that deals with topics such as digital communication.
"I have always met my transparency obligations as a Member of Parliament without delay," said Voigt.
On the homepage of the state parliament, his voluntary, scientific and economic activities can be viewed by everyone.
The public prosecutor's office applies for the immunity of MPs to be lifted if there is at least an initial suspicion.
As a rule, an advertisement precedes it.
Voigt is standing for the state presidency of the CDU this Saturday.
As a parliamentary group leader and possible party leader, he is also expected to be the CDU top candidate for the next state election, which will normally be in 2024.
