Ione Belarra has denounced this Friday that the negotiations with the PSOE to prepare the next Budgets are "stuck" and has urged the government partner to "step on the accelerator".
In a speech without allusions to Sumar, the movement promoted by Vice President Yolanda Díaz to revitalize the space to the left of the PSOE, the general secretary of Podemos and minister of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda has also claimed her formation as the "main organization ” of space at a time of crisis in relations with the United Left.
The minister has announced that the party is already taking the initiative to form "broad and open" candidacies in all territories for the municipal and regional elections, which are held in eight months, and will organize internal primaries from October 10 to November 4 .
In his speech before the State Citizen Council, the management body of Podemos, Belarra has once again put the priorities of his group on the table in the negotiation of the Budgets.
The head of Social Rights has not referred directly to the defense spending that President Pedro Sánchez committed to in the framework of the NATO summit in June and that his formation rejects, one of the main disagreements, but he has defended the social investment (extension of maternity and paternity leave) and has demanded the unblocking of two other parallel issues: the housing law —approved almost a year ago in the Council of Ministers after an agreement that was linked to the approval of the previous PGE—, and that of citizen security (known
gag law
).
“I want to show my concern that these negotiations are so stuck and I propose to the PSOE that we step on the accelerator to be able to attend to what is urgent and move forward with courage in what is important.
There are problems that cannot wait any longer”, he urged.
"It is time to govern without fear and without asking permission from those who rule without running for election."
This same Monday, the formation took a first step in the formation of candidacies for the municipal and regional elections by announcing the candidates chosen by the direction of Podemos for the City Council and the Community of Madrid, the former athlete Roberto Sotomayor and the group's co-spokesperson in the regional Assembly, Alejandra Jacinto.
The two appointments, which must be ratified in the October primaries, also constitute a form of pressure on the rest of the political space to push for the confluences to be defined as soon as possible.
In a context of weakened relations with the United Left, alliances are not assured in any territory.
In addition, the leader of Más Madrid, Mónica García, who maintains a good relationship with Díaz and competes for the same electorate as the Belarra party,

"We assume what is our responsibility as the driving force of the main changes that are taking place in our country and also as the main organization of our political space", the Secretary General launched, thus claiming a leadership position in the group that after The departure of Pablo Iglesias from the Government and with Díaz —who does not belong to Podemos— as coordinator in the Executive is more than ever in question.
"Soft blow to democracy" of the PP
The head of Podemos has also harshly criticized the PP, a party that she has come to label as a "cartel" when recalling the cases of corruption in which she has been involved and has blamed the conservatives for blocking the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary, "a soft blow, without weapons, or tanks, to Spanish democracy", in his words.
"We all know why he does it, to protect his corrupt and to oppose the progressive coalition government from the judiciary," she concluded.
"The progressive and multinational majority that supports this government has to modify the law to comply with the Constitution and renew an illegal CGPJ once and for all," she has claimed.
Belarra has also charged directly against the popular president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo: “The moderate suit is too big for him.
Feijóo is the same leader of the Popular Party of all his life, a friend of criminals, with cases of corruption that are difficult to explain.
A person who uses lies as the main political weapon.
That is why I think that one of our political objectives for this course has to be not allowing the PP to recover political breath.
They have to pay for each and every one of the misdeeds they commit against democracy because they are not a party, they are a cartel”, he has accused.
There has also been room in his speech to demand a "fair" tax reform that includes a review of corporate tax and new taxes on large corporations, another of the demands of Podemos throughout the legislature.
Regarding the war in Ukraine, which has lasted more than six months, Belarra has once again called for all "political, diplomatic and institutional" force to be used to end a war that is "a ruin for our peoples".
