The retiree would have been 100 next year. She had not been seen physically for more than eight years.

What happened to Albertine?

In Orne, the town of Bretoncelles is shaken by a macabre discovery: the remains of a nonagenarian were found at her home by the gendarmes.

She would have been dead for several years, between five and ten.

The neighbors did not suspect anything, and for good reason: her son would have believed that she was still alive, reveals the Actu.fr site.

On August 29, the mayor of Bretoncelles, Daniel Chevée, tries to contact one of his constituents, Albertine Haye, soon to be a centenarian, who no longer gives any news.

He then alerted the gendarmes and a team from the Mortagne-au-Perche Research Brigade was sent to her home.

The soldiers enter the house and make a tour of the home, without success.

An investigation is then opened for "

worrying disappearance

", while the Criminal Brigade arrives at the home of the retiree the next day.

After extensive research, they discovered the remains of a body in the bedroom: "

the remains of his body were embedded in the mattress

," said a source close to the file at the Actu site.

“Not physically seen for over 8 years”

The Alençon prosecutor's office immediately launched additional investigations, in order to "

confirm the identity of the deceased and proceed with the dating of the death

", said the public prosecutor Laëtitia Mirande.

The remains were sent to the IRCGN (National Gendarmerie Criminal Research Institute) and the neighborhood was interviewed.

Most of the people questioned indicate that they have not met Albertine for several years.

However, the water meters continued to turn, indicated the town hall, reflecting a still real occupation.

Every year, Albertine's son personally took care of communicating the index of the water meter reading to the town hall.

Another disturbing element, a witness reports that his son continued to drop him shopping and take out the trash.

In reality, the first investigations led to the conclusion that Albertine "

had not been seen physically for more than 8 years

", indicated the prosecutor in a press release.

Interviewed by the gendarmes, the son ended up admitting to having learned of Albertine's death.

It remains to be seen why this death seems to have been deliberately hidden or obscured by him.

Bank investigations are underway to deepen the thesis of a fraudulent motive.

Still according to the Actu.fr site, the track of denial in the face of the death of his mother is also considered.
