Earlier this week, the authorities in Iran claimed that they had arrested several people involved in the assassination of a senior Revolutionary Guards officer last May.
Tehran accused Israel and the Western countries of being responsible for the assassination of Colonel Hassan Seyed Khoday.
"Several people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the assassination of Shahid Khodai," said the spokesman for the judiciary at a press conference.
"The required legal steps have been taken against them and the case is under investigation."
After the assassination in the heart of Tehran, the Revolutionary Guards said that two people on a motorcycle killed Khodai and blamed the "terrorist organizations associated with world oppression (the West) and the Zionists".
According to reports published after the assassination, Khodai was the commander of a unit in the Quds Force - responsible for the activities of the Revolutionary Guards beyond Iran's borders - which planned attacks against Israelis abroad.
